Wetland Meadow Landscape

In 2006 we were asked to design and install a Master Plan for this Amherst residence located within a wetland meadow landscape. This photo gallery takes you through that 3 year process from construction through plant maturity.

We were inspired by the character of the site and worked to bring these wetland meadow systems into the managed landscape. By carefully selecting native species we added to the rich biodiversity that already existed. The pollinators and song birds hum about. We also aimed to thoroughly integrate the interior with the exterior. By building a pond and Goshen stone patio off the back stoop, parties can easily spill outside to a variety of destinations. And by carefully assessing screening needs we were able to create several subtle “outdoor” rooms within the yard, while maintaining powerful views to our iconic mountain ranges.

Years later this site proves to be a true hallmark of ideas: blending edible orchard trees in the meadow, a low-growing clover/eco-turf lawn, custom stonework, rain barrels, and an amazing dog!
